Anthony L. Ferraro, 91, of Worcester, was surrounded by loving family members when he passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, in his home. He joins his son, Michael T. Ferraro, who passed away in 2013, in Heaven. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Margaret “Nanny” C. (Porcaro) Ferraro; a son, Anthony Ferraro, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Auburn; a daughter, Deborah Westberg of South Grafton; a brother Joseph Ferraro and his wife Mary of Worcester; a sister, Marion Saucier of Millbury; four grandchildren, Nicole Foran and her husband Jim, Keith Westberg and his wife Marilyn, Anthony Ferraro, and Trisstina Wyrick; eight great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Francis, and Paul Ferraro. Anthony was born in Worcester, son of the late, Joseph P. and Mary (Belsito) Ferraro. He lived in Worcester for many years, later moving to Shrewsbury, before returning to reside in Worcester twenty-three years ago. He attended Worcester public schools and later served his nation, during World War II, in the United States Army. He service was in the European, African, Middle Eastern Theatre, and he was awarded a Campaign Ribbon with a Bronze Service Arrowhead in recognition of this service. Anthony worked as a blacksmith for John J. Adams Company for many years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Saint Anne’s Church and the former American Legion Post 341 in Worcester. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying small aircraft; he was an avid bowler and loved almost any outdoor activity, especially his daily walks at Lake Park in Worcester. Family was the brightest star in Anthony’s life and the special private time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren, brought him the greatest joy. Calling Hours for Anthony will be held on Thursday, July 6, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Friday, July 7, from the funeral home, departing in procession at 10:50 a.m. for a Funeral Mass at 11:15 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike (Route 9 East), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester, where his will be laid to rest beside his son, Michael.
