Melvin John Winquist, 76, of Worcester, passed away in his home on Monday, July 3, 2017, with his loving wife at his bedside. Melvin is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Janet C. Winquist; a brother, Kenneth Winquist and his wife Louise of Millbury; and many cousins. He was born in Worcester, son of the late, John A. and Rena A. Winquist. He was also predeceased by his step-father, Herb Holden and his step-brother, Fran Holden. Melvin graduated from Worcester North High School in 1959, later graduating from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute, 1n 1961. He served his nation proudly in the United States Army Reserves in the 5th Artillery Division. He retired from Metso, formerly Jamesbury, after a fruitful thirty year career there, where he was a Senior Product Designer. He had previously worked in the drafting department at the former Heald Machine Company. He is the proud holder of a Patent for a 4-way valve he designed. Melvin enjoyed boating, fishing, hiking, and traveling. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. There are no calling hours. Services are private.
