Theresa (DiLiddo) Belsito

June 22, 1925 — June 21, 2017

Theresa (DiLiddo) Belsito, of Worcester passed away peacefully at home one day before her 92nd birthday on June 21, 2017, surrounded by the family she loved so much, joining in heaven her oldest child Donald Belsito who passed away on February 20, 1985. Theresa was born on June 22nd 1925, in Worcester, one of five children of Sebastian and Julia (Colangelo) DiLiddo and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School.  In 1943, at the age of 18, Theresa married in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Albert P. “Al” Belsito and began a 73 year marriage of love, dedication and family living in the Lakeview neighborhood of Worcester. Theresa worked over 25 years, as an expert seamstress for Davies Handbags, Plesco and Slovin Company before retiring.   In retirement, Theresa assisted her son Kenny at Belsito’s deli, making delicious Italian delicacies she raised her family on.     Theresa is survived by “The Love of her Life” Al; their six children, Catherine Cosenza and her husband Peter of Dennisport, Domenic “Dimo” Belsito and his wife Susan of Myrtle Beach, Jane Burdzel and her husband Michael  Deborah Salerno, Kenneth “Kenny” Belsito and his wife Linda all of Worcester, Albert P. Belsito, Jr. and his wife Gina of Rutland; 25 grandchildren; 34 Great Grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Besides her son Donald, three brothers, Samuel, Joseph and George DiLiddo and a sister, Ann Richardson all predeceased her.      Theresa was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church.  She loved Bingo, sewing, and their home on Cape Cod. True to her Italian Heritage; family was everything in Theresa’s life.  Her husband, children and grandchildren always came first to her and nothing was more important.  She was an excellent cook, and always welcomed into her home, family friends, neighborhood children and anyone that happened to stop by.   Nobody left her home without having something to eat.  Holidays, birthday’s anniversary’s and family special occasions were always moments to remember.   Funeral services will be held Monday, June 26th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a procession beginning at 11:15 am to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd where her celebration of Life mass will be held at 11:30 am.   Entombment will follow in St John Mausoleum.  A period of calling hours will be held from 9 am to 11am Monday before departing for church.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452, www.alz.org. The Belsito family would like to thank Kim from Summit Eldercare, the CNA’s from MSG  and  the Acclaimed Nurses as well as Theresa’s daughters Debbie and Cathy for the care, comfort and compassion they gave to Theresa during a difficult time.
