Mary (Angarano) Ciccarelli, 104 years old, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Webster Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of forty-eight years, Louis Ciccarelli, predeceased her in August 1980. Mary was born in Bisceglia, Bari, Italy, to the late Domenico and Catarina (Catino) Angarano on Sunday, December 15, 1912. She came to the United States at the age of 15. Mary worked as a seamstress for many years and retired from Nancy Howard Coats. She was a member of the International Garment Workers Union, Mount Carmel Church and its Golden Years Club and the Leisure Club at Our Lady of Loreto Church. She was a very religious person who prayed the rosary nightly. She was one strong and determined lady who faced many challenges in life and overcame these things with the help of her faith. Mary had a passion for baking Italian cookies, which everyone loved. Sunday dinners and holidays were special for her family. She loved to crochet afghans, which she gave to all her family. Her other enjoyment was playing BINGO, especially at the nursing home. At her 100th Birthday Celebration, she received a “Key to The City” from the Mayor of Worcester. She also received a letter from First Lady, Michelle Obama and from Senator John Kerry. Mary was a beautiful woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, spending time with her family and friends. Her life mainly centered around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she loved so much. Mary leaves her loving family, a daughter, Catherine Bowman wife of the late Gerald E. Bowman; a son, Louis D. Ciccarelli and his wife Ruth, all of Webster; seven grandchildren, Michael Bowman, Kevin Bowman and his fiancé Lorraine Suzman, Laurie Bowman and her fiancé Harold Davis, Maryann Casamassa, Andrew Sbrogna and his wife Jennie, Angela Brayton and her husband Mike, and Keri Volk and her husband Brian; seven great grandchildren, Michael, Miranda, Kaylah, Victoria, Natalie, Mariela, and Luciana; three nieces, Catherine Ford, Mary Gabrilla, and Patricia Cordella, and a nephew, Robert Polissack. She was predeceased by her son, Vincent Ciccarelli in 1985 and by a brother and sister, Frank Angarano and Margaret Polissack. Mary’s family would like to thank the staff on unit one for the care and compassion they gave to Mary. Calling Hours for Mary will be held at MERCADATNE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, on Monday, June 19, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A procession will then depart at 10:45 a.m. for an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester.
