Frances E. Purretta, 86 of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 13, 2017, with family gathered at her side. Frances was born in Worcester, one of five children of Thomas and Congetta (Aquino) Purretta. She graduated from Commerce High and lived in Worcester all her life before moving to Shrewsbury. Frances worked in the accounting department of the former Lincoln Nursing Home until retiring in 1997. She previously worked for Okonite Wire & Cable Company, 10 years. Frances also worked for Industrial Supplies and Morgan Construction Co’s. In retirement, Frances volunteered her time with Memorial Hospital, the Ecotarium and several other organizations she could apply her help to. Frances is survived by her three sisters, Margaret A. Carlson with whom she lived, Jean A. Pelis of Essex Junction, VT, Connie Hovagimian and her husband John of Millbury; Her sister in law, Gisele Purretta of Shrewsbury; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A brother, Joseph Purretta, brother in laws, Arthur Carlson and Joseph Pelis all pre deceased her. Frances, enjoyed travel, spending time with her family especially her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The holidays and special occasions with her family were moments that will not be forgotten. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, June 16th 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Saturday. June 17th from the funeral home with a procession to the Church of Saint Anne, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd, where her celebration of life Mass will be held at 10:00 am.
