Norma (Bouley) Fortin, 80 of Worcester passed away peacefully Friday, May 19th 2017 surrounded by family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Ronald, sons James and Joseph, and daughter Patricia. Norma was born in Worcester, one of 10 children of Adolphis A. and Cecilia (Sawyer) Bouley. She graduated from Commerce High School class of 1956 and attended Worcester State College. In 1958, in St Joseph Church, Norma married the “Love of her Life” Ronald B. Fortin and together settled on French hill where she lived raising her family until her passing. Norma is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth F. Willson of Portage, MI; a son, Thomas P. Fortin and his wife Susan of Lake Elsinore, CA; a brother, Armand J. Bouley of Millbury; four sisters, Gladys P. Urbsis and Noella L. Amyot both of Tucson, AZ, Lauretta L. Carlson of Chandler, AZ, and Eva Weitze of Prescott, AZ. She also left behind eight grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members who helped watch over her. Besides her husband and three children, Norma was predeceased by her two brothers, Robert and Wilfrid Bouley and sisters, Gertrude Trigiano and Dorothy C. LaViolette. Norma worked all her life to help support her family. She worked from home performing customer service part time for Ceaco Company, a puzzle manufacturer. Previously, Norma worked as a secretary for Digital Equipment Corporation, Holy Name High School Guidance Department, and the Pernet Family Health Services foundation. Norma was a devoted Catholic who believed that God was her source of joy and strength throughout her life. She was a life member of St. Joseph's church, a choir member, CCD teacher and Chairman of the St Joseph Restoration fund. She co-organized and lead the “Save St Joseph Church Committee” during the early 1990’s effort to keep her church open. She truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important aspects of her life and she had room in her heart for everyone she met. Norma was very generous with her love, time and resources, and helped anyone she could. Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through life's challenges of the loss of her husband and three children. Her passing leaves a hole in everyone’s hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten. She also was a former member of the Worcester Chorus and also a former volunteer at Dartmouth Street School Library and the Pernet Family Health Service. A period of calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 24th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. departing in procession at 10:30 to St Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton St where here funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial alongside her husband and children will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made to Holy Family Parish, 35 Hamilton St. Worcester.
