William R. “Richie” Toney, 68, formerly of Worcester, of Springfield, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2017 in Sunrise Senior Living, in Haverford, Pennsylvania. William was also known as “Bill” to his friends and associates in Pennsylvania. “Richie” grew up and was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is the second son of the late, Albert M. Toney, Sr. and Katherine E. (Williams) Toney. He graduated from Assumption College with a Master’s Degree and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Rehabilitation Counseling and Services. He moved to Pennsylvania in 1983 to pursue a career as a counselor at Philadelphia Community College, retiring in 2013. He is survived by two brothers, Albert M. Toney, Jr. and his wife Deborah, and Alvin D. Toney, Sr. and his wife Felicita, all of Worcester; a step sister, Norma Toney of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Alberta M. Little-Daku; a brother, Kevin Toney; and a step-brother, Norman Toney. Richie loved to travel, especially on his Harley Davidson. He enjoyed high performance cars and having a good time with family and friends. A Memorial Service for Richie will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Friends and family are invited to gather with his family before the Memorial Service from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 11 a.m. The Service will be followed by a reception beginning at 12:30 p.m., to continue the Celebration of His Life, at the Tuttle Post, 88 Bancroft Street, Auburn, Massachusetts.
