Joan M. (Deming) Marengo, 80 of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 surrounded by her children. Joan’s husband of 32 years, Donald R. Marengo passed away on December 5, 1989. She leaves her three children, Deborah M. Dunn of Shrewsbury, Sher A. Rossi of Harrisville, RI, and Michael D. Marengo of Auburn; her sister, Maida (Deming) Richards of Orange, MA; three grandchildren, Tyler C. Dunn, Vanessa (Rossi) Boyce and Richard Marengo; seven great grandchildren. Joan was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, a daughter to the late Earl and Mary Deming who were of Warwick, MA. She was a graduate of Millbury High School and later attended Becker Junior College. She started her career as a medical secretary for Memorial Hospital. Joan married Donald on April 29, 1957 and they later moved to Northborough where she was a very active member of St. Rose of Lima Church and the church choir. She was a large contributor to the Fresh Air Fund for over 13 years. Joan and her husband ran a successful service station for many years, Don’s Diagnostics Service Center where her customer’s gave her the nickname “Zaney Lady”. The family wishes to thank the staff at Trinity Health and Rehab Center for their many years of care and where she will forever be known as “Chop Chop”. Services for Joan will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 W. Main St., Northborough. Burial alongside her husband will follow in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, May 17th from 6-8 pm in the funeral home.
