Joseph B. McNeil, 68, of Worcester passed away Monday May 8th 2017, with his family by his bedside. Joe was born in Worcester Ma, one of six children of Joseph B. and Irene F. (Koslowski) McNeil. Educated in Worcester, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Joe then accepted a position as an engineer for the Allegro Corporation where he worked over 25 years before retiring. Joe’s wife of 25 years, Kathleen E. (Dyer) McNeil passed away March 19th of last year. He leaves his five children - Colleen F. O’Brien and husband Timothy, Joseph “Jaybo” McNeil and wife Taimi Ferrelli-McNeil, Erin Channing and husband Steven, Shawn M. Freniere and wife Nicole; and Heather McNeil. He is also survived by 7 brothers - William, Richard, Shaun, Scott & David McNeil and Robert Jones Sr. ; 5 sisters - Barbara McNeil-Gambo, Paula Haskell, Marylou McKenzie, Cheri Bromirski and Pat Daly; He also leaves behind his 5 grandchildren - Ericka, Madison, Kaela, Brianna and Kebrina; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends including his best friend Robert "Bob" Alexander, who helped care for him. Joe was very active in Veterans affairs. He was a member and former Commander of the Oxford American Legion, and a member of the Vernon Hill Post 435. Joe was a dedicated family man and enjoyed trips with his wife Kathy to the Beaches of York Maine. He was also a life long Red Sox fan. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 15th at 1 pm at Hope Cemetery, section 116. There are no calling hours. A celebration is planned but not yet finalized.
