Paul A. Baranauskas, 71 of West Boylston, longtime clothing sales associate passed away suddenly at home, Monday May 8th 2017. Paul was born in Worcester, one of two sons, Albert J. and Laura E. (Carbone) Baranauskas. He graduated from North High School and earned an Associate’s degree from Worcester Junior College. Paul then began a lifelong career, clothing customers for Shacks Men’s Wear for over 28 years before performing the same function at Bonardi’s before retiring. Paul is survived by his wife Carol (Tozeski) Baranauskas with whom he would have celebrated 25 years of marriage on July 3rd; a son Scott Baranauskas of San Diego; three daughters, Kimberly Pullen and her husband Doug of North Carolina, Cheryl Lazzaro and her husband John of Millbury, Karen Duggan of Worcester; and a brother, Lawrence J. Baranauskas and his wife Lori of Milford; four grandchildren he found his life’s greatest joy and who lovingly called him “Poppy”; Christopher, Nicholas, Christina and Alexander; his best friends and pets, Maxwell the dog and Mikey the cat; nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends and customers. Paul was a special man who found his enjoyment talking to customers and friends. He had a gift of conversation and his easy way and bright smile were infectious to all. He loved all kinds of politics and would at a whim debate the issues to no end. At one time Paul served as campaign manager for his son in law John’s run for Worcester City Council. Paul and Carol also found special enjoyment traveling to Aruba each year to Casa Del Mar and entertaining family at their home for poolside barbeques and card games. He was also very meticulous and had a keen eye for men’s fashion making sure his customers always looked their best. He enjoyed taking care of his home and spent a great deal of time landscaping his yard in the same precise manner. He also enjoyed playing Bocce on Shrewsbury Street, collecting oldies CD’s and was a big New England Patriots fan. Paul was very involved with his children’s activities when they were growing up as a spectator, volunteer and coach. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours Thursday, May 11th from 9:30 am to 11am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Followed by a prayer service at 11 am. Burial will be in Mt View Cemetery in Shrewsbury.
