David Flores, 67 of Worcester passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. David leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty years Carmen M. (Santiago) Flores. He is also survived by his two sons, Jose D. Flores of Worcester and Elias Flores and his wife Stacy of Oxford; his grandchildren, Jose, Jr., Elias, Nazarai, Dezarai, Antonio, Victor, Jajaira, and Elias, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Javier and Ty; one brother in Puerto Rico; one sister in Puerto Rico, many dear brothers and sisters in law; his best friend Billy and his cat, “Metoo”. David was born on April 15, 1950 in a small coffee producing city in Puerto Rico called Yauco. There he met the love of his life and future wife Carmen Santiago. They eventually settled in Worcester together where they have lived and raised their family for the past fifty years. David worked for over forty years as a machinist and leather tanner for Barber Corp in Brockton, MA. David was an avid sportsman; he loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family. He proudly passed on his passion for nature to his children and grandchildren and together the three generations spent countless hours enjoying each other’s company as they awaited their trophies. He was a past member of the Auburn Sportsman’s Club. David was also a great car enthusiast and a skilled mechanic. He was a “Ford Guy” and he was very proud of his Blue Mustang GT Convertible which he kept in immaculate condition. David’s friends and relatives could always count on him to help if they needed something fixed on their cars and David was determined to get the job done right regardless of the time or the weather. David was a loving, caring, and generous man with a giant heart. It gave him great joy to help others no matter if they were strangers or not. He would truly give the shirt off his back and the last nickel in his pocket if someone else needed it. Spending time with his friends and family was what made David happiest and playing dominoes, sharing good food, drinks, and laughs with them every Friday night was a ritual in his home. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather and his memory, lessons and legacy will live on eternally through the many lives he touched. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of visitation from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester, MA immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
