Christine Ann “Dolly” (Giovannucci) Eckland, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2017. She was born in Worcester, August 13, 1934, to Ferdinando and Mary (Tarallo) Giovannucci. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Christine will be greatly missed by her children; Dennis Eckland of Worcester, Diane (Mike) Van Parys of Naples, FL, Nancy (Tony) Fiore of Grand Haven, MI, Cheryl (John) Trimby of Oxford, Mark Eckland of Leicester, Lori (Barry) McLean of Holden, and son-in-law David Duplin of Florida. Christine was preceded in death by her children Gary Eckland and Charlene Duplin, her parents, one sister Christina and five brothers Angelo, Daniel, Ferdinando, Jr., Anthony, and Alphonse Giovannucci. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Michael Flynn, Julie Flynn-Powell, Nicholas Fiore, Christopher Fiore, Kurt Trimby, Keith Trimby, Kimberly Malvey, Steven Eckland, Abigail McLean and Jack McLean. She also leaves 3 Great grandchildren and two brothers Robert and Hector Giovannucci. Her caring ways were boundless. She not only raised her own wonderful family, and was instrumental in the raising of her niece, Mary Iovanni, and was a loving nanny for David and Ryan Gise, who consider her a part of their family. A Memorial Service for Christine will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. There will be visitation for family and friends, from 9 a.m. until the opening prayer at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
