Mary V. (Migliorelli) Carbone, who celebrated her 100th birthday this past January 12, passed away peacefully at Knollwood Nursing Home Monday April 24th 2017 with the family she cherished gathered at her side. Mary was born in Pontecorvo, Italy January 12th 1917, one of three daughters of Antonio and Assunta (Gugliardi) Migliorelli. She grew up and educated in Italy, immigrating with her family to the United States in 1930 at the age of 13 and became a United States Citizen in 1931. Mary met and married in 1941, at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church her beloved husband for the next 57 years, Samuel Carbone. They together settled in the Bell Hill section of Worcester to raise their family with love and devotion. In 1998, Sam passed away and Mary continued to live in her home several more years. Mary a stay at home mom, was happiest in her life, caring for her husband, children and especially her grandchildren. You could usually find her in her kitchen, baking and cooking delicious offerings. Mary’s home was always open to her children’s friends growing up, family members and other friends who would often stop by for a cup of coffee or an interesting conversation. In the evenings Mary enjoyed knitting her favorite Irish Afghans. She also loved to sing, dance and laugh. Mary has left us many wonderful memories. She is survived by her two devoted children, William “Bill” Carbone and his wife Kathleen “Kitch” of Holden, Linda Peterson and her husband Donald of Wells, Maine. Four grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren she dearly cherished, Tracy DeFusco, her husband Ronald and their children Matthew and Sarah, Kelly Mahoney, her husband Francis and their children, Caroline and Colleen, Jeffrey Peterson, his wife Emily and their children Andrew and Olivia, Laurine Tetreault, her husband Christopher and their children Samuel, Dillon and Austin; A sister, Alice Almonte; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Mary was predeceased by her younger sister Amelia Tomasello. A period of calling hours will be held Friday, April 28th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St before departing in procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd where her celebration of life Mass will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
