Jean G Feild

Jean G. Castagna, 82, of Holden passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at her home she shared with siblings Rita and Louis.  Jean was born to the late Rudolph and Immaculata (Piscitelli) Castagna of Worcester.  She is survived by 7 siblings:  Albert Castagna of Shrewsbury, Gensie Bouffard of Keene, NH, Rose Lucier of Milford, Frances Perrone of Worcester, Louis Castagna of  Holden , Rita Castagna of Holden, and Anthony Castagna of Sterling, and by many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.   She was predeceased by Luigi and Rudolph Jr. of Worcester, Julia Pierce of Penns Grove, NJ, Gloria McCauley of Holden, Beato Castagna of Keene, NH. and her beloved twin Joan Castagna. Also preceding her in death was her late husband Robert “Stretch” Feild.  She lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Holden 20 years ago.  Jean worked as an administrative assistant for many years at David Clark Company and at Chemical Sales before she retired.  She enjoyed working and remained actively involved with her job until she turned 73.  Reading the latest suspense and romance novels kept her busy in retirement.  She was the consummate crossword puzzle aficionado. She never tired of cleaning up the kitchen after family gatherings or making sure a snowflake or acorn never remained on the walkway for more than a minute.  She loved visiting with relatives at family gatherings. Though the quiet listener, she had a laugh that was contagious. All knew her as a devoted sister, beloved aunt and dear friend.   Calling hours and her Funeral Mass will be held in church.  Calling Hours will be held on Friday afternoon, April 28, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at Our Lady of Loreto, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester.    In lieu of flowers, in honor of her twin sister Joan, a donation in Jean’s memory may be made to ovarian cancer research at the UMass Memorial Foundation (https://www.umassmed.edu/foundation/index.aspx)
