Joyce A. Moore

Joyce A. (Harper) Moore, 72 of Worcester was called home with the Lord on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Saint Vincent Hospital surrounded by her beloved family. Joyce is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline E. Moore and A. Michelle Moore both of Worcester; two sons, Gregory L. Moore of Shrewsbury and Miles J. Moore of Worcester; three brothers; four sisters; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and her sisters in Christ, Dorothy Jones and Violet Bragg. In addition to her parents Joyce joins her longtime companion, Jesse Browning jr. and two of her brothers in heaven. Joyce was born on March 15, 1945 in Gastonia, N.C. a daughter of Samuel L. Harper and Gladys R. (Floyd) Mauney. She moved to Worcester in 1970, where she lived until the day she passed.  Joyce worked as a childcare advocate for the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corp for over ten years before she retired. Her loving and caring nature helped guide many troubled young men and women back in the right direction. Her job was a life calling to her and despite its difficulties and challenges; it also gave her great joy helping young people achieve their potential. Joyce was also an active member at Belmont A.M.E Zion Church, where she was a Pastor’s Aide, missionary class leader and also sang in the Chancellor Choir. Joyce was also a member of the Elks Quinsigamond Lodge Chapter #85, as well as an Eastern Star. Above everything else Joyce loved spending time with her friends and family; she was a great cook and her delicious meals were a regular event that united the family in her home. Joyce also enjoyed going on cruises and traveling to new places such as Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, Las Vegas, and the Caribbean. Although we celebrate Joyce’s return Home to God, She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
