Robert S Pietrowicz

May 9, 1943 — April 17, 2017

Robert S. Pietrowicz, 73 of Worcester passed away peacefully Monday, April 17th 2017 after a period of declining health. Bob was born in Worcester, one of six children of Stanley and Viola (Ouellette) Pietrowicz.  He graduated from Classical High School, and served for a time in the Massachusetts Air National Guard.  A hard worker to provide for his family, Bob began his working career at the Wyman Gordon Company forge shop in Worcester.  As an automotive enthusiast, Bob and his brother Rich then established Auto Tech Body Works, Baystate Appraisal Co. and City Bumper Co. on Park Avenue. The latter of which was run by their brother Jim.  He later accepted a position as a Auto Appraiser for AMICA Insurance where he worked over 20 years before retiring.    Bob is survived by the “love of his life” Lucina M. (Rushford) Pietrowicz with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this coming September; his two sons, Robert M. Pietrowicz of Worcester and Keven S. Pietrowicz of Lugoff, South Carolina;  his daughter in law of over 20 years, Stacy A. Lemay;  brothers Richard J. Pietrowicz, Sr. and his wife Darlene of Worcester, James J. Pietrowicz and his wife Barbara of Florida; sister-in-law, Irene Pietrowicz of Worcester, two sisters, Marie Bercume of Branchport, New York and Jane Benoit of Worcester; four grandchildren, Sydney, Natalia, Ryan and Tyler; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.   A brother, Paul Pietrowicz pre deceased him. Bob was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. An avid and accomplished hunter and fisherman, Bob loved freshwater and salt water fishing and enjoyed growing his own vegetables.  He was also a jack of all trades. He could repair and fix anything.  He was generous with his time and resources and would help anyone who needed to repair something or assist where he could.  Most important in Bob’s life was his family especially his grandchildren and would attend any activity his grandchildren were involved in if he wasn’t working.  His family was his inspiration and life’s devotion. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Monday, April 24th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.   His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 25th from the funeral home with a procession to Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant St where Bishop Robert J McManus will celebrate his funeral Mass at 11:00 am.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  Flowers may be sent or memorial remembrances in his name made to the Worcester Diocese Partners in Charity, 49 Elm Street Worcester or a charity of the Donor’s Choice.
