He also graduated from Worcester Junior College in electrical engineering, and from Northeastern University in business management. He was a member of the 101st AC&W Flight, USAFR, Worcester, and a Vietnam Era Veteran, serving in Germany during the Berlin Crisis of 1961-62. Mr. Marrino was a licensed Journeyman electrician, working first for his father’s electrical contracting business and, subsequently, with many local electrical contractors and with General Motors in Framingham. Thereafter, he joined the General Electric Company in New York engineering sales, covering Long Island, Manhattan and Westchester County. In 1966, he was hired by the Automatic Switch Company (ASCO) in New England engineering sales. George retired in 2003 from ASCO/Emerson Electric as the Northeast District Sales manager—responsible for the sale of the company’s products throughout New England and up-state New York—after 37 years of service. He was a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel/St Ann’s Church (Worcester), St. Bernadette’s Church (Northborough), and professional organizations Local #96-IBEW, UAW, IEEE, ISA, and IAEI. George enjoyed his family, many friends, mainstream jazz and a good “martooni”. He was an avid golfer, who started playing at age 12 by caddying at Worcester Country Club, and who played many rounds on golf courses across the country. He was especially grateful to have recorded a double eagle in 1983 at Green Hill Golf Course and to have been a 34-year member of Marlborough Country Club. Per George’s request, his body has been donated to the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Anatomical Gift Program. Accordingly, his body has been remanded to the school.
