Danny “Dan” Joe Sloan, 57 of Worcester, formerly of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Saint Francis Nursing Home, after a period of declining health. Dan was born in Lawrence, KS on July 17, 1959 a son of Janet (Perry) Meehan and the late Max E. Sloan. He attended Grandview High School in Missouri; he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his Nation. Throughout his career Dan worked as a salesman for various food distributors such as Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Nabisco. He eventually settled in Worcester, where he resided for the past thirteen years. Loyal to his hometown roots, Dan was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He also enjoyed watching and playing golf. Dan cared deeply for others, especially Veterans in need and he found joy in volunteering at Veterans Inc. in Worcester. Above everything else, Dan was a devoted and dedicated father, who was extremely proud of his children. Dan is survived by his mother, Janet (Perry) Meehan; his twin sons, Benjamin M. and Maxwell J. Sloan of Rutland; a daughter, Steffany Kerr of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Brad Sloan; three sisters, Deborah Althauser, Diana Sullivan, and Connie Hucker; four grandchildren, Lilah, Miles, Violet, and August Kerr, and many more nieces and nephews. Military Honors and Burial will be held for Dan at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St, Winchendon, MA 01475.
