Alfred A. Porcaro, 83, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017, in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by loving family. Fred is survived by his loving children, including, four daughters, Robin Laurens with whom he lived, Pamela Riley and her husband James, of Auburn, Darlene Aiello and her husband Dave of Charlton, and Kimberly Direnzo and her husband Joseph of Stafford Springs, CT; a son, Fred Porcaro and his wife Pat of Auburn; a stepdaughter Dawn Lindstrom and her husband Chris of Dudley; twenty grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by four sisters, Dorothy Kozlowski, Margaret Ferraro, Betty Fortin, and Barbara Blanding, all of Worcester; and two sisters in law, Grace Porcaro of Shrewsbury and Rose Porcaro of Worcester. Alfred was one of twelve children, born to the late, Antonio and Assunta (Latrenta) Porcaro, and has lived in Worcester all his life. He was predeceased by seven of his siblings, Jerry, James, Rocco, and Arthur Porcaro, Rosie Walsh, Lena Dupre, and Anna Frascola. Alfred graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School and later earned a Degree in Agriculture from UMass Amherst. He worked for many years as lead grounds keeper for Indian Meadows Country Club while also operating his own company, Porcaro Trucking, for forty years, before retiring. He was a member of Saint John’s Church, the Worcester Lodge of Sons of Italy, and the Teamsters, Local 170. Fred was a faith filled man, and prayed the rosary daily, not only for himself, but for the intentions of many others. He was dedicated to his family and found great joy in spending quality time with his precious grandchildren. For many years, he went above and beyond to make the holiday special for his family. He will be remembered fondly as “Grampy Claus”, and his yearly Easter Egg Hunt, where he would hide nearly 3000 plastic Easter eggs; that he took months to fill with prizes. Everything he did, he did for his family. He will be remembered with love. Calling Hours for Alfred will be held on Friday, April 7, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 8, from the funeral home, departing in procession at 9:40 a.m., for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint John’s Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester.
