Mary C. (Byther) Brown, Solomon, Thorpe, 84, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Sunday April 2, 2017. Mary is survived by her children; Karan Cuthbertson and her husband Harley, David Brown and his wife Frances, Marsha Bombard and her husband Wayne, Sherri Peterson and her husband Alfred, Mary Ellen FitzGerald, Wendy Halal and her husband Nicholas, Andrea Perrin and her husband David, Christine Esposito, John Solomon 11, and Derek Solomon. She also leaves her daughter in law Dolores Brown and son in law Matt Bastille. A son Duane C. Brown, Jr. and two daughters Jackalyn Bastille, and Elaine Solomon and a grandson Steven Fitzgerald all predeceased her. Mary was also predeceased by her husbands, Duane C. Brown, John (Chief) Solomon and Archie Thorpe. Mary was the proud grandmother of 26 grandchildren; Richard and Donald McKinley, Joyce Woodward, Paul and Kyle Brown, Kathryn Brown- Sterczala, Daniel Brown, Jason Bombard, Candace Poudrier, Karl Peterson, Melissa Somers, Robert Fitzgerald, Nicole, Jenna, Anthony, and Nicholas Halal, Kelly Miller, Chrissy Graven, Stephanie and Joseph Solomon, Jessica Tight, Jack and Rory Bastille, Lauren and Gianna Solomon. She also leaves 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Mary was born in Milo, Maine daughter of the late Earl and Lenora (Kirkland) Byther and made her home in Worcester in 1964. Mary’s life was defined by her children, as she remained at home for many years raising her family. When her children were enrolled in school Mary went to work Waitressing at Howard Johnson Restaurant, and then found a career that she enjoyed as a CNA at the Lincoln Nursing Home. Eventually she went to the UMass Memorial Hospital as a PCA for many years before she retired. Mary enjoyed attending yard sales, reading, and doing jig saw puzzles, however her most treasured times were when she was with her large and loving family, especially her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at Christopher Heights in Webster for their compassionate care and concern for Mary over the past 3 years. Mary’s funeral service will be held on Thursday April 6, at 10:30AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Wednesday evening from 4PM to7PM.
