Bernice L. (Bernier) Marzo, 91, of Worcester passed away peaceful just prior to her 92nd birthday, Saturday, April 1st 2017, with the family she loved gathered by her side, joining in heaven her husband of 57 years, Joseph who passed away in 2008. Bernice was born in Worcester, one of six children of Alphonse and Leona (Benoit) Bernier. She graduated from Commerce High School, met and then married Joseph Marzo. They then together began a life on Grafton hill, of love and family until Joe passed in October of 2008. Bernice leaves her devoted six children and their families, Paul J. Marzo, his wife Debra and their children Anthony, Melissa, and Matthew; Mary Ann Chiampa, her husband David and their son Michael; John J. Marzo, his wife Cathy and their children, Angela and Stephen; Linda M. Midura, her husband Larry and their children, Kristen and Michelle; Joseph M. Marzo, his wife Susan and their children, Hannah and Avery; David J. Marzo, his wife Dawn and their children, Alexia and Ariana; five great grandchildren, Gianna, Kaylee, Meghan and twins, Emily and Anthony Jr.; A brother, Roland Bernier and his wife Violet; nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Bernice chose to be a homemaker for her family; Her husband, children and grandchildren, always came first in her life no matter what. She was the backbone of her family and remained devoted to them throughout her life. She was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family and friends, family dinners, creating seasonal crafts for people in different nursing care facilities, and volunteering to help the needy at the Mustard seed. . She truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important parts of her life. Bernice and her husband Joe were founding members of Our Lady of Loreto Church, where she also chaired the annual bazaar, taught CCD and helped on the bishop’s fund. Bernice had room in her heart for everyone she met. She was very generous with her love, time and resources. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten. Bernice’s funeral will be held Wednesday, April 5th at 10:30 am in St Mary’s of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4th in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in remembrance of her can be made to the St John’s Food for the Poor, 44 Temple St Worcester 01604. The Marzo family would like to thank the Staff of Knollwood Care facility and the 4th floor staff of Worcester Rehabilitation, for the care, comforts and compassion they gave to our mother.
