Henry D. Penny, 83, of Worcester, passed away peacefully notably on his mother’s birthday with family at his side, Saturday, March 25, 2017. Henry was born in Worcester on May 30, 1933, a son of the late Anthony Penny, Sr. and Lydia (Massei) Penny. He was raised and educated in Worcester, accepted a position with Wyman-Gordon Company, Worcester Plant as Tool manager where he worked over 20 years before retiring in 1981, to remain home and care for his mother. Henry is survived by the family he cherished; His two devoted brothers Anthony Penny of Yarmouth, Robert Penny and his wife Sandra of Worcester; twelve nieces and nephews whom he adored; two sisters in law Dolores and Eleanor Penny; other extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, two brothers, Francis J. Penny and John “Tootsie” Penny pre deceased him. Henry believed that faith and family were important parts of his life. He was an active church member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel and a member of the nocturnal admiration society. An avid outdoorsman, Henry enjoyed Bowling, Hunting and fishing. He was also an accomplished painter and carver. A quiet simple individual who cherished his family, especially his parents whom he dedicated his life to their care. His smile and presence at family gatherings will be sorely missed. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Tuesday March 28th from 9:00 am to 10:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Proceeding in procession at 10:45 to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit roads, where Monsignor Stephen Pedone will celebrate his funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Burial with his parents will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd 01604 or the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St Worcester 01608.
