George C. Valeri, 68 of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 with his devoted family gathered at his side after a period of declining health. George was born September 16, 1948, the only child of George and Anna (Dahrooge) Valeri. He graduated from Doherty Memorial High School and then attended Northeast Broadcast school in Boston. George then accepted a position with the AFL-CIO Teamsters Union Local 170 and for the next 30 years, worked as a route driver for several tucking companies including Holmes Transportation, before becoming a business agent watching over several union shops and traveling the country for the teamsters before retiring. George and his family also owned and managed several rental properties in the Worcester area. George is survived by the love of his life, Katherine M. (Bellerose) Valeri with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of love and dedication on November 4th. George also leaves his two sons, Christopher M. Valeri and his wife Tammi of Worcester formerly of Grafton, Gregory F. Valeri and his wife Rebecca of Haverhill; Five adoring grandchildren, Shane T., Whitney A., Matthew J., Joseph G. and Steven F. Valeri; Several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. George and his wife Katherine were enthusiastic car collectors, notably Ford mustangs. George and Katherine own several vintage and special edition mustangs including one of 50 special made, 2011 Ford Mustang Daytona 500 pace cars; his pride and joy. George was also a member and past director of the National and New England Mustang clubs. He also traveled extensively across the country for both work and play over the years. George served his community; the city of Worcester both as a member of the zoning board and property owners association. Most of all George was devoted to his wife, children an especially his grandchildren. They were the most important parts of his life. The holidays, special occasions and gatherings when they could all be together were what made him smile. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Sunday March 26th from 3 pm to 7pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Monday, March 27th from the funeral homme with a procession to St Peters church, 931 Main St. where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
