The servant of God, Randolph Samara, fell asleep in the Lord, with the family he cherished gathered by his side on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, weeks before his 85th birthday. He and his beloved wife Janice (Ross) Samara had the good fortune to have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past February 3, 2017.He is mourned by his wife Janice, his daughter Audrey Jean Samara and her fiancee Anthony DiBona of Braintree, MA, his daughter Sharon (Samara) Moore and her husband Charles Moore of Worcester, MA and his daughter Elaine (Samara) Stratton and her husband Michael Stratton of Shrewsbury, MA along with 7 grandchildren that he loved dearly, Christian Wybieracki, Matthew and Sarah Moore, Tyler Stratton, Venessa Corriveau, Jesssica Melanson and Christina Lindberg. Likewise, he leaves two sisters Sophie Samara of Shrewsbury, MA and Theodora Azkoul and her husband Rev. Fr. Michael Azkoul of Niles, IL, a brother George Samara, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Shrewsbury, MA. A large extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will miss his smile, kindness, love for his family and willingness to help all. He was predeceased by brothers Nicholas Samara of Worcester, MA and Robert Samara of San Jose, CA. Randolph was born in Worcester, MA on April 12, 1932, the son of George and Minerva (Nadaff) Samara. Randy served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. After an honorable discharge, Randy worked 22 years at the Table Talk Pie Company where he met many of his life long friends. While working at Table Talk, Randy worked many second jobs doing carpentry, electrical work, painting and plumbing leading him to gain the nickname "Handy Randy". Randy's last position before retirement was with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Throughout his life he was a faithful steward of St. George Orthodox Cathedral and gave of his time and effort humbly and tirelessly. Faith, Family, and Friends were most important in his life. He found joy in helping others in whatever way was needed. He demonstrated his example of a "Man for Others" with his love, kindness, strength, and courage to his end. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of Calling Hours, Monday, March 27th from 9:00 am to 9:45 am in Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St., Worcester, MA. 01604. The funeral will be immediately following at 10:00 am and celebrated by Rev. Fr. Milad Selim and Rev. Fr. Nicholas Apostola.
