Elizabeth A. (Garney) Budzinski, 91, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at UMass Hospital in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Budzinski. Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Thomas P. Budzinski of Riverside, Florida, and Wayne E. Budzinski and his wife Mary of Shrewsbury; a brother, Lawrence Garney of Woodstock, CT; four sisters, Priscilla LeBlond of Worcester, Thelma M. Whitaker of Worcester, Barbara O’Sullivan of Auburn, and JoAnne Tetreault of Worcester; seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, George, Jr. and Roland Garney, and Geneva Fournier and Loretta Nordgren. Elizabeth was born in Plattsburgh, New York, daughter of the late, George A. and Bessie M. (Geroux) Garney. She grew up in Plattsburgh, and graduated from high school there. She later moved to Worcester in 1943. Elizabeth worked in the kitchen at Saint Vincent Hospital for many years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Saint Stephen’s Church. She loved her family and found great comfort when surrounded by them. Elizabeth’s family would like to thank all of the caring people at Christopher House, especially the nurses, aides, and assistants in the Belmont Unit. A “thank-you” is also extended to the caregivers on 6 West at UMass Hospital on Lake Avenue. The compassion and care given to Elizabeth and her family was appreciated and will be remembered for years to come. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, March 23, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be on Friday, March 24, from the funeral home, departing in procession at 9:40 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
