Esther F. Troio, 92 of Worcester died peacefully on Tuesday March 14, 2017 in the Masonic Home surrounded by loved ones. Esther is survived by her sister Marion Spencer of Scarborough Maine, and a sister in law Mary Troio of North Oxford, many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. She was predeceased by a brother Leonard Troio and a sister Geraldine Thompson. Esther also recently lost a close friend that she met at the Masonic Home, Dorothy Gerrish whom she befriended and was very saddened at her death. Esther was born in Worcester daughter of the late Matteo and Anna (Palmieri) Troio and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Gage Street School, Belmont Street School, and Commerce High School. After High School, she furthered her studies at the Salter Secretarial School. She was an Executive Administrative Assistant for many years at the United Steel Workers of America Union before she retired. Esther was a longtime member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. She was a strong independent women for her time. She enjoyed taking rides, and in her younger days always had her own car. She loved to dance and go to the beach. But her happiest moments were when she was with her family. She really enjoyed her sisters and brothers company and all the kids. Esther will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Esther’s funeral will be held on Saturday March 18 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 9AM in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto 33 Massasoit Rd. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Friday from 4PM to7PM. Interment will be in St Johns Cemetery with her parents.
