Rose M. (Salerno) Bushe, 86 of Worcester passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Saint Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Rose joins her husband, John Bushe, who passed away in 2001. They were married 44 years. Rose was born in Worcester on June 2, 1930, a daughter of hardworking Italian immigrant parents, Joseph and Theresa (Martello) Salerno. Rose was raised in Worcester and was a charter member of the Venerini Academy. She went on to study business at Commerce High School. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for over ten years at General Automotive Supply. Later, she worked for Patrick Motors and several other small businesses in Worcester. An avid reader, over the years Rose continued her education at Quinsigamond Community College. Rose was a devout Catholic and active member at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Worcester where she taught CCD. In her younger years, Rose volunteered as an American Red Cross Nurse’s Aide. More recently, she enjoyed spending time as a member of the Red Hat Society. Rose most enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Rose had many friends in Worcester, and always enjoyed meeting new people. In her later years, she very much enjoyed going out with her friends from Coes Pond Village. Amongst Rose’s many survivors, Rose leaves behind her daughter, Terry Besch and Terry’s husband Eric of Frederick, MD; four sons, Harry S. Bushe and his wife Sheila of Worcester, Sean D. Bushe and his wife Erika of Auburn, Michael P. Bushe and Kevin B. Bushe of Worcester; a brother, Victor Salerno; two sisters, Rita Nardella and Olimpia Williams; eighteen grandchildren, Jason, Daniel, Catherine, Sean Patrick, Ryan, Paige, Aubrey, Quinn, Dylan, Callum, Liam, Benjamin, Kellie, and Megan Bushe, Erin, Logan, Laurenn and Duncan Besch; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Seamus and Lucas Bushe; a daughter-in-law, Noelle Bushe, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John and her parents, Rose was also predeceased by her brothers Anthony and Guido Salerno; and her sisters Ann Verdini, Mary Chionna, and Virginia Marshall. A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rose at 11:00 am on Friday, March 10, 2017 in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street in Worcester, followed by interment at Saint John’s Cemetery.
