Margaret (Murphy) Kearney-Lutz

September 13, 1923 — February 27, 2017

Margaret M. “Peg” (Murphy) Kearney-Lutz, 93, longtime Shrewsbury resident passed away with her daughter and best friend Mary at her bedside Monday, February 27th 2017. Margret was born September 13th 1923 in Worcester, one of seven children of Irish immigrants John and Elizabeth (Brosnihan) Murphy.  She graduated from Classical High school and earned her associates degree from New England School of accounting.    Margaret then married Robert Kearney and begun a life of love and family in Worcester raising their daughters until Robert passed away in 1982.    Margaret then found love and family for a second time in 1993 when she married Robert Lutz, moving to Shrewsbury where she has lived and enjoyed her blended family for the past 23 years.  Peg began her career as an office assistant with Norton Company where she worked for a short time before accepting the same position with the Worcester School Department where she remained many years before retiring in 1982.   Peg is survived by her family; her daughter and best friend, Mary E. Granger and her husband Francis of Worcester,  Judith Polito and her husband Francis of Shrewsbury, and Patricia Dausche in New Hampshire;  her grandchildren,   Kevin Granger and his wife Brittney, Robert Granger, Brian Granger and his wife Megan and Daniel Granger,  Kenneth  Polito and his wife Irene, Lt Governor Karyn Polito and her husband Stephan Rodolakis; Great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jackson, Paige, Brady, Gianna, Lena, Francis, Judith and Robert;  Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.  Four brother, Frederick, Daniel, John and Edward Murphy, and two sisters, Helen Masterson and Mary Sullivan all pre deceased her.  Peg was a member of St Anne Church in Shrewsbury.  A simple woman who cherished her family; Peg found her life’s enjoyment  having her family around her at the holidays, special occasions and times when they could be together.   She spent a lot of time with Mary and Judy; Loved shopping, playing cards with friends at Southgate, and the occasional trip to the casinos.  A dedicated Boston Red Sox fan, Peg watched as many games as she could.  Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 4th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St departing in procession at 9:40 am to St Anne Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd Shrewsbury where her celebration of life Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am.   Burial will follow in St John Cemetery, Worcester.   Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, March 3rd from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the St Anne Human services, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd Shrewsbury, 01545.
