Robert E. Hazzard, 74, of Worcester, passed away home to heaven, joining his parents and brother, Friday, February 10th 2017 after a long illness. Robert was born in Southbridge, one of two children of James L. Hazzard, Sr. and Bessie (Perkins) Hazzard. As a child, Robert moved to Leicester where he spent a majority portion of his life. He graduated from Leicester High School. Robert then spent a number of years in Leicester before moving to Worcester. Robert worked his whole life as a construction worker for the International Laborers Union local 243, for many area construction companies before retiring. He is survived by his two devoted daughters, June Tesfazian and Jeannell Hazzard; a son Derek Hazzard all of Worcester; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many cousins and extended family members. His only brother, James L. Hazzard, Jr. pre deceased him. Robert was a Native American and member of the Nipmuck Indian Tribe. Always interested in Native American history; he enjoyed researching his heritage and those of other Native Americans. He attended numerous area Native American Pow Wows’, shows and exhibits, enjoying the history he learned there. He also enjoyed horse racing, football and baseball. Although the most important interests in his life was his family. Nothing meant more to Robert than his three children, and his grandchildren. They were his life’s inspiration and love. Funeral services for Robert will be held Wednesday, February 15th at 12 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial in Corbin Cemetery in Dudley will be held in the Spring. A period of calling hours will be held from 10 am to the start of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451
