Isabelle (Craigen) Plante, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017, just one week short of her 99th birthday, at the Beaumont Rehabilitation Center. Isabelle was born February 5, 1918, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. She was one of ten children, born to Patrick and Ellen (Murphy) Craigen. She was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters. Raised and educated in Worcester, she graduated from Commerce High School. She married Marcel T. Plante in St. Peter’s Church in Worcester and later they made their long-time home in Shrewsbury, Mass. After forty years of marriage, Marcel predeceased Isabelle in 1980. She and Marcel were business owners of “Marcel Plante at Steinert’s”, which was a mainstay in downtown Worcester. They were involved in many community and cultural events, including such venues as the Worcester Auditorium. Isabelle could be found alongside Marcel at the record counter, boating at the Cape, and trout fishing on a Vermont stream. She remained in her home until 91, where she continued to host and feed family and friends. She leaves her children, Natalie DeMichele and her husband Louis of Worcester, Rosemary Palmer and her husband Allen of Saybrook, CT, and Marc T. Plante of Falmouth; a sister, Mary Shea of Florida; six grandchildren, Laura DeMichele, Victor DeMichele, Jill Perkins, Michelle Plante, Amy Carpenter, and Alison Licht; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The Plante family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of skilled and compassionate caregivers and kind residents who made The Beaumont a home for Isabelle, over these last seven years.
