Rita (Frongillo) Kalagher, 94 a wonderful and dedicated mother and grandmother passed away at home, Friday, January 27th 2017 with family gathered at her side. Rita, one of ten children of Italian immigrants Henry and Angela Rose (LePera) Frongillo was born in Worcester, graduated from Commerce high school and has lived here all her life. In 1946, Rita married Raymond “Ray” Kalagher in Our Lady of Mt Carmel church. They then settled in Worcester, to raise their family over the next 59 years before Raymond passed away in 2005. Rita also worked to help support her family at the Iandoli Supermarket in Shrewsbury for over 39 years before retiring. Rita is survived by her two sons, David Kalagher with whom she lived, Michael Kalagher of Worcester, and her daughter in law, Cathleen Kalagher of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren and Sophie her grand dog she truly loved. Of her nine sibling’s, Rita is survived by three brothers, Robert Frongillo and his wife Rose of Naples Florida, Henry Frongillo of Worcester, Ronald Frongillo and his wife Maureen of Millbury, and a sister, Jennie Tarbell of Worcester; Many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Her daughter in law Elizabeth Kalagher, Two brothers, Louis and John Frongillo and three sisters Evelyn Langley, Dorothy Cipro and Lois Webster all pre deceased her. Rita a simple Italian mother whose belief and faith in family, dedicated her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved to cook, listen to Italian music, watch game shows on Television and especially care for her family. Over the years Rita was always present to support her grandchildren whether it was dance recitals, school functions or sporting activities. “Till we meet again” Funeral services for Rita will be held Friday February 3rd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a procession to St Mary’s Church, 640 Main St Shrewsbury where her celebration of life mass will be held at 11:30 am. Burial will be private. A period of calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the funeral home before leaving for church.
