Lila M. (Karakey) Risas, 86, of Worcester went home to the Lord peacefully Friday, January 27th 2017 joining in heaven her husband of 55 years Rev. C. Richard Risas. Lila is survived by her two sons, Rick Risas and his wife Dawn of Punta Gorda Florida, and Wayne Risas and his wife Allison of Shrewsbury: Lila also leaves her loving grandchildren; Ashleigh, Molly, Eric, Evan, and Kristen; great grandchildren Noah and Delilah; and several nephews, nieces and extended family members. She was predeceased by her only sister, Barbara Booth. Lila was born in Worcester daughter of the late Samuel and Jamela (Moore) Karakey. She grew up in Worcester, graduated from Commerce High School and earned her degree in Biblical Studies from Barrington College. Notably, Lila lived and raised her family in the home she grew up until recently. Lila cared for her family as a homemaker, also supporting her husband as his secretary while he was a pastor, and also while he was Director of Missions for the Massachusetts Baptist Association. She was gifted in music and would support her husband by playing the piano for church services. She loved to entertain and serve the Lord as well as people. Her unwavering faith in Christ kept her and her family grounded throughout life’s many challenges. A funeral service for Mrs. Risas will be held on Friday, February 3rd in the Chapel on the Hill, 145 Memorial Drive (Rt. 140) Shrewsbury at 11AM. A time of visitation with the family will be held from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM in the church. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery.
