Irene Raymond

Irene M. Raymond, 87 of Worcester, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 26th 2017. Irene was born on May 30, 1929 in Worcester, the only daughter of Nicholas and Clotilde (Sica) Raymond.  She attended Commerce high school.  Irene then accepted a position with Woodbury & Company, where she worked many years before retiring.   Irene is survived by her brother, Michael Raymond and his wife Betty whom she considered a sister, many nieces, nephews, and friends whom were a large part of her life, Kevin, Evelyn, Marie and Lena. Her longtime companion, John Botko and brother Ralph Raymond pre deceased her. Irene was a member of St Anne’s church.  She was a non-assuming woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time taking care of her parents through the years, time with family and friends, dinners, cooking and baking.  She was a wonderful woman who will be missed terribly. A period of calling hours will be held Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the MERCADANTE FIUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St before proceeding in procession to St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.  Burial with her parents in St John Cemetery will be private.   In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to St Anne’s Church Human services, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd.  Shrewsbury, 01545.  The Raymond family would like to thank the Dodge Park Rest Home and Jewish Healthcare Hospice for the care, comfort and compassion they gave to Irene during a difficult time.
