Louis J Latino, Sr.

Louis J. Latino, Sr. 90, of Wayland, formerly of Auburn and Worcester passed away Wednesday January 25th 2017 in the arms of his son and wife. Louis was born in Worcester, one of ten children of Italian immigrants Carlo and Maria (Castelana) Latino.   He graduated from Commerce High School and joined the U.S. Army during the Second World War, serving the country proudly in the European, Asiatic and Pacific Theatres, notably earning the bronze star medal for actions in combat.  Upon his return from active duty and in 1951, Louis married at Our Lady of Czestochowa church, Julia Ryngiewicz.  Together they began a 66 year marriage of love and devotion, in Worcester, sixteen years in Auburn before moving to Wayland to be close to their son. Louis was a very hard worker;  most of his life as a Liquor Salesman in Worcester and surrounding areas for George Lamoureux & Company and later Lion Distributors before retiring.  Louis also moonlighted for many years as a bartender at Moynihan’s Pub and the Boynton in Worcester.  Louis is survived by the “Love of his Life” Julia; his son Louis J. Latino, Jr. and his wife Alison all of Wayland; His brother, John Latino and sister Sarah Lavin; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.   Four brothers, Joseph, Salvatore, Charles and Silvio Latino and three sisters, Anna Dattis, Eva Hill, and Jean Brennan all pre deceased him. Louis was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church; A simple man, who found enjoyment with his family, friends, and his work.   He truly believed these  to be most important in his life.   Louis was a very generous man with his love, time, wisdom and resources and would help anyone who needed it. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, January 29th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  His funeral will be held Monday, January 30th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street.  where his Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am.  Burial with military honors will follow in St John Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472, www.alz.org/manh
