Pietro Gazzillo

  Pietro Gazzillo, 77, of Worcester died peacefully Tuesday January 17, 2017 in the Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Pietro is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years Maria G. (Piombino) Gazzillo,  a daughter Angela Lefebvre and her husband Scott of Shrewsbury and a son Giuseppe and his wife  Vincenza of Caserta. Pietro was the proud grandfather to Timothy, Justin, Assunta, and Anna. Pietro also leaves his Sister Michelina Gazzillo of Caserta, a sister in law Rosa Gazzillo of Caserta, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother Francesco and a sister Maria. Pietro was born in Casertavechia son of the late Giuseppe and Angelina (Eperone) Gazzillo and proudly came to the United States on October 9, 1975. He graduated High School in Italy. Pietro worked for the Wright Line Company in various positions for 25 years before he retired. He was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt.Carmel-St Ann and recently the Church of St. Anne. Pietro enjoyed fishing, tending to his garden, and of course his daily walks along his beloved Shrewsbury St. Pietro enjoyed making his homemade wine,and loved having his family around him especially the traditional Sunday dinners! Pietro was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be sadly missed. Pietro’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Richard Orino and his staff for their wonderful care of Pietro and also a thank you to the UMASS Emergency Room, and all the nurses and staff at the Memorial Hospital CCU. Pietro’s funeral will be held on Saturday January 21, 2017 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St.with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of St. Anne 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Friday from 4PM to 7PM. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery.
