Evangelos K. Sokos

January 4, 1942 — January 8, 2017

Evangelos K. Sokos, 75 of Rutland, formerly of Worcester passed away unexpectedly on Sunday January 8, 2017 at UMass Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Evangelos was born on January 4, 1942 in Albania and immigrated to Worcester with his family as a child, where he was raised and graduated from Commerce High School. Evangelos later attended Worcester trade where he studied to be a draftsman. While in school Evangelos met the love of his life Barbara T. Cipas and on October 31, 1965 they married and together they spent the next 51 years in love with each other. Shortly after they were married, Evangelos was selected in the Vietnam Draft and he honorably served his Country in the United States Army.  After his return from the Army, Evangelos worked as a chef owning  Marlo’s Restaurant in Worcester for over ten years and also a restaurant at Data General in Southboro for over twenty years before he retired. Cooking was not just a job for Evangelos, it was a passion and a life calling. He especially loved to cook for his grandchildren, who he adored more than anything else in the world. Evangelos lived his life well and to the fullest at all times. He loved people and he would always try to make them laugh and smile with his great sense of humor and his upbeat and light hearted personality. He was a dedicated and hard worker and he was always generous with his time and resources. Evangelos was also a talented craftsman, who enjoyed constructing many projects at his home. Evangelos was happiest while spending time with his family, especially on their trips together to the casino. Evangelos also loved his parot “Lydia” and his dog “Evan” who he spoiled as if they were his children. Among the many people who love Evangelos, he is survived by his wife Barbara T. (Cipas) Sokos; his son, Konstandinos D. Sokos and his wife Jami of Paxton; his daughter, Marlo M. Tsiramanes and her husband Billy of Holden; five grandchildren; his mother, Margarita Sokos of Worcester; his sister, Athena Bardanis of florida; and many nieces and nephews.
