John M. Reynard, 87, of Worcester MA, died peacefully on Thursday January 5, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital with loved ones surrounding him. John is survived by his wife Jane (Turley) Reynard of 31 years, a son James Christopher Reynard, and a daughter Kathleen Reynard, both of Framingham, MA, a step son Todd Morey and his wife Lisa of Sandown N.H., and a step daughter Alice Sutcliffe and her husband Scott of Mendon, MA. John was the proud grandfather to Daniel and Dylan Morey and great grandfather to Parker Morey. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, and his beloved Balinese cat Max. He was predeceased by two sisters, Carole and Beverly Graifman. John was born in Brooklyn N. Y., son of the late Murry and Elaine (Gaslow) Reynard. He moved to the New England area many years ago with his family, and lived in Framingham before moving to Worcester. John served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served as an Aerographer after receiving his training at Naval Technical Academies in Lakehurst, New Jersey and Memphis TN. He was a graduate of both Boys High School and City College of New York. He went on to the University of Connecticut where he earned two Master’s Degrees - one in Engineering and one in Physics. He also took graduate courses at Dartmouth, MIT and Clark University. John was a Project Manager and Engineer for the Polaroid Company for many years before he left to start his own company, Money Mailer of New England. It was through this franchise that he met his love Jane, and married soon afterwards. John was a 50-year member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He loved flying and sailing and had several boats and planes throughout his younger years. He was a member of the Power Squadron of Framingham, where he proudly taught sailing. He also enjoyed gardening and bicycling on Cape Cod, where his ashes will eventually be one with the ocean. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A gathering and Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday January 14, 2017 from 11am to the start of the service at 1pm at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester , MA.
