Margaret “Margie” (Lemere) Jones Hicks, 83, of Charlton, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, with loving family members at her side. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Samuel Hicks. Margie is survived by her loving family, a daughter, Karen L. McIntire and her fiancé, Ed Riggles of Holden; four sons, Robert J. Jones and his wife Kathleen of Leicester, James M. Jones of Cranston, RI, Stephen P. Jones and his wife Marjorie of Monson, and Christopher K. Jones and his wife Christina of Dudley; her companion of many years, Gordon Nicholl; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas C. Jones in 2011; two grandsons, Stephen P. Jones, Jr. in 1988 and Michael Jones in 1998; her brothers, Chet and Albert Lemere and Buddy Tebo; two sister, Roseann and Linda Tebo; she was also predeceased by her step mother, Connie Lemere and step father, Arthur Tebo. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Fitzpatrick) Lemere. She worked with her husband for many years, as the business owner and manager at Sam Hicks Paving. She was always looking to improve her education and for some time, she worked as a private nurse for area families. She later yearned to attend a place of higher education and matriculated into Quinsigamond Community College, to pursue a degree in Psychology. She was a hard-working, dedicated woman that believed in taking care of and loving her family. She was a devoted Catholic and regularly attended services at Saint Anne Shrine in Sturbridge. She enjoyed country music and was a member of the New England Country Music Club. She loved to travel, going target shooting, gardening, but most especially the special times with her family. Calling Hours for Margie will be held on Monday, January 9, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. in Saint Ann and Saint Patrick Church, 16 Church Street, Fiskdale (Sturbridge), MA 01518 (Please go directly to church on the morning of the funeral). Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Saint Anne and Saint Patrick Church, 16 Church Street, Fiskdale, MA 01518.
