Sonia Vega

Sonia Vega, 72 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at her home surrounded by her adoring family. Sonia was born on June 1, 1944 in Maricao, Puerto Rico a daughter of  Luis Vega and Graciena Perez. Sonia eventually moved to Worcester where she lived for over forty-five years and raised her children. Spending time with her children and many grandchildren brought Sonia the greatest joy in the world. Her home was always filled with the wonderful aromas of her delicious cooking; her loving and warm hospitality was always extended to every guest that came through her doors and no one left her kitchen with an empty stomach. She loved people and feeding them was her way of expressing her love to all. Although Sonia had only four sons, many of the neighborhood kids considered her as their mom as well because of the kindness and love she showed them all. Sonia also enjoyed watching novellas and movies, having her nails done and her beloved dog “Cleo”. Among her many survivors Sonia leaves behind her four sons, Jeffrey Guzman and his wife Virgen, Jacob Guzman and his wife Mercedes Gonzalez, Alberto Guzman and his wife Maryelena Renfrew, and Luis Guzman and his wife Luz Rodriguez all of Worcester; a daughter, Kisha Guzman of Worcester; 18 grandchildren, many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sonia at 6:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2016 at Joan of Arc Parish, 570 Lincoln St, Worcester, MA 01605.
