Ermite R. Benjamin, 91 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence surrounded by her family. Ermite was born in Port au Prince, Haiti, a daughter to Nestor Benjamin and Theramene Daguerre. She grew up in Haiti and lived there until 1976 when she moved to New York City and later moved to Worcester in 1986 where she has lived for the past 28 years. While in New York City, Ermite worked in a factory as a packer. Ermite is survived by two sons, Michel Pierre and his wife Dany of NY and Patrick Pierre and his wife Mina of Worcester; two daughters, Marie Vincent of Worcester and Marlene Pierre of Haiti; a sister Seth Duponton of FL; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a sister, Altagrace Benjamin. Services for Ermite will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Providence Church, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, December 30th from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
