Arnold L. Pinto, 91, a long time Worcester School Teacher and Sports Coach, passed away December 18, 2016, peacefully at home surrounded by family. Arnold was born January 11, 1925 in Medford, MA, a son of Arnold N. and Teresa (O’Donnell) Pinto. He graduated from Medford High School in 1943 and went on to join the US Marines. He served his country proudly aboard the U.S.S. Tuscaloosa in the Pacific during WWII. Immediately following he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts and his Master’s Degree from Boston University. Arnold married the love of his life in 1952 Virginia (Conboy) Pinto and they spent the next 64 years writing their story. Among his many accomplishments he spent thirty years coaching and teaching in Worcester touching the lives of many and helping to instill values in his students and athletes, that extended far beyond their high school tenure. He went on to enjoy his retirement years with his wife, family and especially their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arnold is survived by his loving wife Virginia, their seven children, sons, Bruce and his wife Mary, John P., Christopher and his wife Jean all of Worcester; Arnold and his wife Sarah of Ashland, Robert and his wife Maria of Medway, daughters, Elizabeth Early and her husband Francis, Dorothy Quist and her husband Stephen both of Worcester; a brother, Robert and sisters, Nancy Conboy and Theresa Trani; fourteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of former students who are grateful for his guidance and wisdom. He is predeceased by his parents and brother Jackie Pinto. Arnold was a member of Christ the King Church, a member and past president of the Sodality of the Holy Cross, and the International Association of Football, Baseball, and Basketball Umpires Association. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Wednesday, December 22nd from 4-7PM at the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. His funeral mass will be held at 10:15AM Thursday, December 22nd at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial with Marine honors will follow at Veterans National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
