Raymond T. Violante,Sr. 86, of Worcester, passed away, surrounded by his loving wife and family on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the Worcester Health Center. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Jean E. (Legor) Violante, their dedicated two sons, Raymond Violante, Jr. of Worcester and Dominick Violante and his wife Jeanene of Avon, Connecticut; a brother, Michael Perri and his wife Florence of Pennsylvania; a sister, Beverly Violante of Worcester; four grandchildren, Mario Violante of Milford, Gina Muse and her husband Alex of Lakeville, Massachusetts, Alex Ryan and Leah Violante both of Avon, Connecticut; one great grandson, Alexis Muse of Lakeville, Massachusetts and one great-great granddaughter, Eva Muse. A brother, James Perri and two sisters, Dolores Beier and Mimi Violante, predeceased him. Raymond was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Dominick R. Violante and Grace (Fioriglio) Perri, and has lived in Worcester for over 60 years. Raymond graduated from Commerce High School and later served his nation proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. Raymond worked with General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. He was a true car enthusiast who enjoyed restoring and admiring classic Mustangs and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He loved attending the family get-togethers and outings. Raymond was best known for his incredible sense of humor with a vulgar, down to earth, sarcastic and funny wit that naturally drew people to him. He enjoyed life, love to laugh, socialize and make people smile. The Violante would like to extend a loving thank you to Kia and all the kind people at Worcester Health Center and too Notre Dame Hospice. Their care and compassion made Raymond’s last days peaceful and dignified.Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, December 18th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Monday, December 19th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Parish, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester where his celebration of life Mass will be held at 10:30 am. Burial will follow to Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
