Stanley W. Stachelek, 85Leicester - Stanley Walter Stachelek, 85 of Leicester passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Saint Francis Home in Worcester with his loving family by his side.Among his many survivors Stanley leaves behind his beloved wife of over 63 years, Rose Louise (Casello) Stachelek; his son, Stanley J. Stachelek and his wife Karen of Philadelphia, PA; his daughter, AnnMarie Froehlich and her husband Dana of Eastham; eight grandchildren, Tracey Caine, Tara Berube, Melissa Tharp, Crystal Rutkiewicz, Rusty Woodcock, Nicole Woodcock, Emma Stachelek and Siobhán Stachelek; nine great-grandchildren and his nephew Bobby Joe Hill.Stanley was born on April 8, 1931 the son of the late Walter and Ella (Tipton) Stachelek in New Britain, CT, where he was raised and graduated from high school. Stanley went on to honorably served his Nation in the United States Army during the Korean War and afterward continued to serve in the Army Reserves as Military Police upon his return from the war. Stanley also served his community as an auxiliary police officer for the city of Worcester for many years. Stanley worked as a machinist for the Henry L. Hanson Company and also as a security guard for Digital Corporation for more twenty years before he retired. Stanley was a member of Saint Pius Church in Leicester and a fourth degree Knight in the Grafton Knights of Columbus.Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday December 4, 216 at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A funeral cortege will process from the funeral home to Saint Pius X Parish in Leicester on Monday, December 5, 2016 for a 10:30 am Celebration of Stanley's Funeral Liturgy followed by Final Committal services at Saint John's Cemetery.
