Melissa A. Peters-Gonzalez, 38, passed away into eternal rest Monday, November 28th 2016 with the ones she loved gathered by her side, after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. Melissa was born in Worcester on October 17, 1978, the daughter of James and Debra (Shays) Peters. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, and earned her cosmetology degree and several specialty certifications from Rob Roy Academy. Melissa then worked as a cosmetologist for area hair salons including Rob Roy where she also became an instructor. Her last position was as an instructor for Spa Tech Institute in Westborough. Melissa is survived by her husband and “Love of her Life” for the last seven years, Edward Gonzalez; her three children, Liza Maria Welch and Zada Mae Gonzalez both of Worcester and Brad A. Bailey of Warren; her parents, James and Debra (Shays) Peters; her brother Joseph Peters and his wife Melissa; A large extended family of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends. Melissa was beautiful person both inside and out, she was the life of the party, a shoulder to cry on and a listening ear for anyone that needed it. She had fierce passion for teaching and loved sharing her own personal techniques with her students. Although just diagnosed with cancer last year, Melissa had been fighting some form of cancer for almost her entire adult life. She never let on to how much pain or discomfort she was in, her only concern was for the well being of others and making sure friends and family were taken care of. Friends and family are invited to calling hours Thursday, December 1st from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A prayer service will follow at 7:00pm. Burial will be private. The family request that flowers be omitted and memorial remembrances be made to the Liza and Zada college fund, care of TD Bank, 500 Grafton St. Worcester 01604.
