James V. Borbone, 67 of Worcester, MA, passed away Tuesday evening, November 15th, surrounded by his loving family at UMass Hospital University Campus. Jim was the first born son of Barbara A. (Guilfoyle) Borbone and Joseph Borbone. He attended and graduated from St. Stephen's Catholic High School and Worcester Industrial Technical Institute where he earned a degree in computer science. Jim's love for Boston sports teams was only surpassed by his passion for music. He played in local acts and bands which earned him the opportunity to open for The Yardbirds and to sit in on bass guitar with B.B. King's traveling band in the 60s. Jim was employed for over 40 years in the arcade and amusement industry where he was well known and even more so respected. He served as a Past President of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 4311 of Worcester. He gained many lasting friendships there where he loved to serve others with his close friends Terri Conte, Bobby Guertin, and Dave Addams. Jim's love was in being there for others and he quickly became known as "Reverend Jimmy" once he began officiating wedding ceremonies for friends and relatives. Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years and companion of 48 years, Dorothyann (Hjelm) Borbone and his two sons James Joseph and Jon Michael, his brother Joseph F. and wife Sandra (Hudson) Borbone of Worcester, a sister Marie L. Borbone of Punta Gorda, Florida, his nephews, who he viewed in higher regard than just nephews, Joshua H. and his wife Ashley Borbone, and Adam J. and his wife Dawn Borbone. He also leaves behind his best friend of over 50 years Brent Buckley and countless other relatives, cousins, and close friends that would be impossible to try and list. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 19, departing the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. in procession to a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Stephens Church, 357 Grafton Street, Worcester. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers or donations, please break bread with loved ones and enjoy the time you have together.
