Geraldine Ann (DeMauro) Vitols, 82 of Worcester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at UMass Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Geraldine was born in Worcester on June 29, 1934, a daughter of the late Natale and Anna M. (Campanille) DeMauro. Geraldine graduated from Worcester Commerce High School in 1952 and went on to work as an administrative assistant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute for several years. During her time employed at WPI, Geraldine met a handsome Army Korean War veteran named Albert L. Vitols while attending a military ball at Fort Devens. Geraldine and Albert fell in love and were married on June 17, 1961. Together they spent the next twenty years happily married, while raising three children until Albert predeceased her on March 6, 1982. Geraldine’s life was guided by her strong faith and devout belief in her Catholic Church. She was a long time member of Mount Carmel Church and she was a current active member at Saint John’s Church, where she regularly attended their prayer groups. In addition to her steadfast faith, Geraldine’s other passion in life was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Geraldine also enjoyed bowling with her husband Albert before he passed away, shopping and meeting her friends for lunch. Geraldine was meticulous about her appearance and she looked forward to her weekly visits to the salon. Amongst her many survivors, Geraldine leaves her two sons, Michael A. Vitols and his wife Linda (Jalboot) of Westboro, David C. Vitols and his wife Kim (Laska) of Trumbull, CT; a daughter, Diane M. Rosolko and her husband David of Clinton; five grandchildren; Michael Vitols, Nicholas Vitols, Joseph Vitols, Addison Vitols and Anna Vitols and her great-granddaughter, Aurora Vitols. Geraldine was also predeceased by her three brothers, Anthony DeMauro, Nicholas DeMauro and Daniel DeMauro; her sister, Antoinette Ricardi and her beloved cat, Linus. Family and close friends will gather for a private calling hour on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple St, Worcester, MA followed by a 10:00 am celebration of Geraldine’s Funeral Liturgy. A funeral cortege will process from the church to Saint John’s Cemetery for final committal. Geraldine’s family has requested flowers be omitted.
