Michael J. Irvine, 57 of Douglas, passed away Thursday November 10th 2016, suddenly at home after being stricken ill. Michael was born in Clinton, a son of George E. and Rosemary (O’Donnell) Irvine. He grew up in Hudson, graduated from Minuteman Vocational Technical High School and has lived in Hudson, Mashpee and Worcester before moving to Douglas. Michael worked the last 6 years for the E.L. Harvey & Sons Corporation in Westborough. He is survived by the “Love of his Life” his wife, Carmella Rose “Camy” (Gremo) Irvine; his stepchildren, Matthew J. McCarthy and his wife Kelli and Patrick J. McCarthy of Dallas, Texas; his son, Craig Irvine of Sterling; brothers, George “Jeep” Irvine and his wife Deborah of Marlboro, and Thomas Irvine of Osterville. Michael also leaves his mother-in-law, Rosemary Gremo, and sister-in-law, Gina Moran both of Douglas and brother-in-law, Joseph Gremo, Jr. of Lewiston, Maine; His aunt Julie Atchue and her husband Pat of Hudson; Many nieces and nephews along with extended family and a host of friends. Michael loved animals and leaves behind his 5 precious fur babies, Bella, Molly, Boots, Rex and Bailey who will miss him terribly. He was a fun loving good natured friend with a big heart and wide smile. He could make friends anywhere and made them feel comfortable around him. He would help anyone who needed it at any time. Michael enjoyed golf, he loved NHRA drag racing and NASCAR Modified Racing, traveling with Camy to Florida, racetracks and other places. He enjoyed Sports of all kinds and played hockey in his youth. Friends and family are invited to calling hours Wednesday, November 16th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. followed by a prayer service. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Thursday, November 17th from 12 noon to 4 pm in the Italian American Victory Club, 26 Dewey Road in Shrewsbury. Burial will be private. Memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Ocean State Veterinary Hospital, 1480 South County Trail, East Greenwich, RI 02818, to fund bills for the less fortunate.
