Ruth A. Mouid of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. She recently celebrated her ninety-first birthday on September 30, with a family party at Christopher Heights, her residence for the past six months. Ruth is survived by a sister Marie Plante and several nieces and nephews and their spouses and families: Joe and John McCarthy, Joann Clougherty, Ed and Armand Barrette, Beth Plante, Mary Halley, Chris Charette, Connie Plante-Sipos, Paul and Garry Jordan, Fred, Parris, and Raquel Kellerman and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews, who adored her and looked forward to her Thursday night tradition of homemade spaghetti and meatballs. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Joseph George and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Daboul) Mouid, and has lived here all her life. She was predeceased by her sisters, Sadie McCarthy, Virginia Barrette, Helen Jordan, and most recently Teresa Kellerman who died on November 3 as well as two infant sisters, Gladys and Barbara. Ruthie, a clothes shopping, Bingo, scratch ticket, and Foxwoods enthusiast, was educated in the Worcester Public School System, and managed the Worcester Gas Light Company cafeteria for many years. She most recently worked for the Central MA Safety Council, retiring just a few years ago. She was a life-long member or Our Lady of Mercy Parish. Ruth’s family would like to thank all of the kind, loving, and committed people that were involved in her care at Christopher Heights, Christopher House, Rose Monahan Hospice, the VNA, her nurse practitioner at Ideal Healthcare and staff at UMass Medical Center. The care and kindness she received ensured her comfort in her last days. Calling Hours for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, November 16, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Prayer of Incense at 6:30 p.m. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, November 17, departing the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. in procession to an 11 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
