“…Show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works.” (JAMES 2:18) Truly Rodrigue Sylvain Robert lived his faith through his works and now God has called him home to Heaven to share in his Eternal Glory. Rodrigue Robert passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 22, 2016 in Saint Vincent’s Hospital at the age of 61. Rodrigue was born on December 26, 1954 in Foret Des Pins, Haiti the son of the late Silvain and Idamente (Jean-Baptiste) Robert. While in Haiti Rodrigue met his true love Chantale (Faustin) Robert and together they celebrated 37 years of marriage. In Haiti Rodrigue worked as a commercial driver hauling trucks and continued working as a driver for the past 19 years after he immigrated to the United States, first in Brooklyn, NY, before eventually settling in Worcester, MA. Rodrigue’s life was guided by his unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He lived his religion always as a living witness of God’s Love. Rodrigue was a Deacon at the Evangelical First Haitian Baptist Church on 60 Ellsworth St. in Worcester, he also taught Sunday school and sponsored church missionary groups. Rodrigue was a well-respected leader in his community and would act as a peace keeper and counselor to those seeking advice. He was a selfless person who was always generous with his time and resources to those in need. Rodrigue’s other passion was music; he was a self-taught musician who could play several instruments such as bass, keyboard, drums, and trumpet and he used his talents to play in the church’s band. As a good Christian Rodrigue was never far from his bible and he spent much of his time studying scriptures and writing sermons to share with his fellow parishioners in bible study group. Among his many survivors Rodrigue leaves behind his beloved wife Chantale (Faustin) Robert; two sons Giordany Robert, Moise Robert and his wife Obiageli both of Worcester; one daughter, Sole Esperancia Phanor and her husband Tiaggy also of Worcester; four grandchildren; his brothers Sylvio, Joel, Loulou Robert and his sisters Luicy Boucher and Mona Robert. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester, Ma. A Celebration of Life will be held at 8:30 am the following day on Saturday, November 12, 2016 in the EVANGELICAL FIRST HAITIAN BAPTIST CHURCH, 60 Ellsworth St., Worcester, Ma followed by entombment in Saint John’s Mausoleum.
