Michelena E. Montecalvo

Michelena E. (Cataldo) Montecalvo, 93, of Westborough, a former long-time resident of Shrewsbury, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2016, at Saint Vincent Hospital.  Her loving husband of sixty-three years, Anthony P. Montecalvo, predeceased her in April 2012. Michelena is survived by a son, Anthony P. Montecalvo, Jr. of Keene, NH; a brother, Anthony R. Cataldo and his wife Paula of Palm Coast, FL; a sister, Mary Carlson and her husband Russell of The Villages, FL; three grandsons and their mother, Anthony P. Montecalvo, III, Stephen A. Montecalvo, Michael R. Montecalvo, and Janet Montecalvo; several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Cataldo.  Michelena was born in Worcester, daughter of Italian immigrants, Rocco and Elizabeth Cataldo.  She graduated from Commerce High School and upon marrying her husband, Anthony, they settled in Shrewsbury to raise their family.  She worked as a bank teller for many years with Worcester Five Cent Savings which later became Consumer Savings Bank, before retiring.  She was a member of Saint Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury and was active in the women’s guild and former bowling league. Calling Hours for Michelena will be held on Friday, November 4, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Funeral Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Saint Anne’s Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
